Over €14M for the sale of the Entre Ciel & Terre Collection

On Wednesday 30th April 2025, under the hammer of Matthieu Fournier, the exceptional collection Entre Ciel & Terre, Masterpieces from a French Collection fetched €13,880,992, twice its low estimate, with 95% of lots sold. In a crowded room, the six artworks signed Brueghel - four oils on panels by Pieter Brueghel the Younger and two copperplates by Jan Brueghel the Elder –sold for a total of €6.2M, paying tribute to the most famous of the painter dynasties.

The Harvest, Allegory of Summer, an oil on oak panel from Pieter Brueghel le Jeune's Cycle of the Seasons, reached a spectacular €2,902,400 after more than five minutes of intense bidding in the auction room, marking the high point of this exceptional auction. Other masterpieces also captivated collectors, such as The Predication of Saint John the Baptist, which fetched €1,600,400.

Gathered by a couple of collectors around the tears, this extremely rare collection consists mainly of artworks painted in the Netherlands in the 15th and 16th centuries, alongside recent works from Flanders and Brittany. From this more modern selection, Henry Moret's Rochers de Pern, Ouessant sold for €301,760.
