Over €21 M for the Old Master & 19th Century Art auction, including €12,4 M for the Guido Reni, a World record for the artist

On Tuesday, November 25th, 2025, under the hammer of Matthieu Fournier, the Old Master & 19th Century Art auction totaled €21,251,779 including fees, three times its overall estimate.

In front of a crowded room, Guido Reni's David and Goliath, a masterful 17th-century artwork rediscovered after more than two hundred years, was sold for €12,386,600, setting a world record for a painting by the artist sold at auction.

Among the highlights, Jean-Francois de Troy's composition, somewhere between a portrait and a genre scene, was sold for €4,067,600, while a bouquet of flowers presented in a Wan-Li period porcelain vase, by Osias Beert, one of the first representatives of still life in Flanders, fetched €503,120.

Portrait de femme, by Anne Henriette Adélaïde, known as Adèle Tornézy, was sold for €582,560, a world record for the artist.

Finally, an oil on canvas by Francesco Guardi, depicting the Rialto Bridge in Venice, realized €556,080.

The auction also featured a collection of bronze and terracotta sculptures, including a pair of busts with a reddish-brown patina by Pietro Cipriani, Lucius Septimius Geta and Plautilla, which was sold for €251,560.
