- Ideal for summer use
- Equipped with a Getrag five-speed gearbox (sold with its original gearbox)
- Beautiful combination of colours
- No reserve
The car entered the collection in 2008, having belonged to a driver from Létricourt in Meurthe-et-Moselle since 2005. It appealed to our collector as it was in a condition that would allow regular use without fear of damage, having previously undergone older mid-quality restoration (as can be seen in the photos). To make it even better suited to today's traffic conditions, the owner asked his mechanic to replace the original mechanical gearbox (which will be sold with the car) with a Getrag five-speed gearbox, which is more comfortable to use and allows motorway driving at lower revs. The invoices for this conversion are provided in the file.
Today, the car features a beautiful combination of colours, with its white paintwork, blue imitation upholstery and matching blue soft top. The interior is attractively presented, with re-varnished dashboard woodwork, seats featuring a slight patina, new carpets, a VDO km/h speedometer and a vintage Becker Europa radio. This is a two-seater version, with a useful hard-top for the winter months. The engine compartment is quite nice.
In used condition and with its five-speed gearbox, this 280 SL is ideal for the enthusiast who wants to drive his car regularly, without fear over the slightest splash of rain. With your hair blowing in the wind and the 2.8-litre, 6-cylinder engine humming away, life just feels that much more enjoyable!
