"722 Edition: the name of this SLR refers to one of Mercedes' greatest sporting achievements, its victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia. Stirling Moss's 300 SLR bore the number 722, which corresponded to its start time of 7:22 am. With the intention of bestowing such a privilege upon one of its cars, Mercedes took its most prestigious model, the SLR McLaren, and enhanced its performance with a 650 bhp supercharged V8. This supercar accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, reached a top speed of 337 km/h and boasted one of the most spectacular features of model on which it was based: the 'gullwing' doors.
This example was delivered new in England and, as its service book indicates, was regularly serviced between 2008 and 2013 by the SLR Center in Brooklands. It then returned to the continent and, in 2015, was serviced at Mercedes Geneva at 18,818 km. In March 2015 it was purchased by our collector from the dealership in Langenhagen, near Hanover, and in 2017 an overhaul was carried out at Mercedes, including the replacement of the spoiler and front bumper, which were slightly damaged when the lift was lowered during the overhaul. The same year, at 19,930 km, the rims and discs were replaced and an invoice for €52,800 is on file. Finally, the car has just recently been serviced at Mercedes Sillingy, near Annecy, at a cost of €11,800 - including a fluid change and replacement of filters, spark plugs, belts and front tyres.
With its silver-grey paintwork and aerodynamic features, this particularly spectacular coupé is in superb condition. The well-preserved interior has a sporty feel, with red leather bucket seats, dials featuring a red background and a '722 Edition' badge. The odometer is graduated in mph, however, the totalizer is displayed in km and now shows 20,630 km. This car is sold with full documentation, as well as the Mercedes SLR certificate of origin dated April 2007 and the service booklet.
With a limited production run of just 150 examples produced, this rare version bearing a historic name represents the pinnacle of the Mercedes range of the 2000s. This example, in superb condition and with limited mileage, deserves the full attention of enthusiasts eager to add this exceptional piece to their collection.
