This Mercedes 220 SE was first registered on 19 April 1963. We know of four changes in its ownership in France, the first in 1999, the second and third in 2001, and the fourth in 2009. In March 2023, the car was sold to a car lover. The previous owner had bought it with the intention of carrying out a minor restoration, but unfortunately he was unable to finish this. From 2020, the current owner therefore set about completing the restoration, including renewing the sills and completely repainting the car, working with the bodywork specialist in his company. The body plate riveted to the slam panel shows the colour code DB050, corresponding to a shade of white, but today the car is elegantly finished in grey with a black roof. The quality of the work done on the body should be emphasised, as should the interior, which is only lightly patinated. In running order but little used in recent years, it is recommended that a general service be carried out so that the car can be driven with peace of mind.
The W111 was one of the most elegant and sophisticated coupés of its time and this is a real opportunity to own a high-quality car from the 1960s for a very reasonable outlay. Sold with no reserve, this Mercedes would make the perfect addition to a collection or could even be an ideal first-time purchase, combining elegance and a high-quality design.
