- Extremely rare 911 S “soft window” version
- Beautifully restored
- Original colours and engine
- Delivered new in Germany
This car is one of the first Porsche Targa models: the soft rear window (known as “soft window”) folds down and enables you to get close to a “real” convertible, with only the safety roll bar staying in place. This system was replaced by a rigid rear window from the 1969 model. Furthermore, this great feature applies here to a 911 S version, equipped with a 2-litre 6-cylinder engine producing 160 hp, fitted on the short wheelbase which was also discontinued in 1969. This combination of features is particularly rare and would only be found on 268 examples, which is why our collector (German nobleman and major Porsche enthusiast) knew he had to own one.
This car was delivered new on the 16th February 1968 through the agent of Porsche Mahag in Munich. In “Blutorange 6809” colour (same as today) and with a black faux leather interior, it was equipped with optional Recaro seats and an electric radio antenna.
Fully restored according to its original specifications, this gorgeous car is fitted with its original engine. The restoration was carried out by A&P Sportmotoren based in Eggenstein. It also includes a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Porsche. As a rare model which marked the beginning of the iconic Targa lineage, with the short wheelbase and its original colours and engine, this 911 S represents a huge milestone in the history of the brand. As a result, it will undoubtedly find a place in collection dedicated to Porsche or 1960s sports cars.
