As evidenced by its Volkswagen certificate, this interesting “split window” version left the factory on the 26th June 1950 and was delivered the following day to the VW dealer in Frankfurt, Walter Glocker. Finished in midnight blue with a cloth interior, this charming Beetle was then registered in Paris on the 14th September 1954 by the uncle of its previous owner, who recalls driving it on holiday to the Basque Country in the early 1960s. It was then acquired by her father in 1964, as evidenced by the registration document of that time and the car was then kept within the family until 2018, when the current owner acquired it.

In exceptional condition, the car was simply repainted in the past and its bodywork remains very healthy. The upholstery has been protected from the ravages of time by covers, including the door panels; in other words, the entire interior is in incredible original condition. The glass of the dashboard’s clock is missing but a second complete clock will be provided. Back in working condition in 2018, the car was simply cleaned and has retained all its patina and accessories, such as the roof rack and the ashtray at the back. As for the engine, it does correspond to the 1950 production year. The first generations of “Beetle” also known as “ovals” are highly sought after and finding one so well-preserved with such a clear history would be almost impossible.
