The Austin Healey 3000 is known to specialists as the “Big”, in reference to its large 3-litre, 6-cylinder engine. The 3000 MK III is prized for its comfort, wood dashboard finish and rising windows, not to mention its performance, with 148 hp thanks to new SU HD8 carburettors and a new camshaft. A rare model, only 1,390 units of the 3000 MK III phase 1 were produced. Chassis 27282 is one of them, and was first registered on 21st January 1965. Left-hand drive from the factory, it has European specifications with the speedometer in kph. When the current owner bought it in July 2017, the car had already been fully restored. It was entirely repainted in a sporty shade of red, and the interior in black leatherette has a lovely patina. It has since been regularly serviced by Garage des Moneghetti in Beausoleil and is in good working order, although we recommend a general servicing in principle, as the car has been seldom driven since its purchase. Powerful and elegant, but also more comfortable in the later versions, this BJ8 promises a pleasant ride.
