Compared to the standard Gallardo, the Super Trofeo, destined to run in the eponymous one-make cup, was fitted with the same, slightly more powerful 5.2-litre V10 engine, lowered suspension, special brakes and, inside, a stripped-down interior suited to racing and FIA safety regulations.
This is one of these rare versions offered here: bought new by a “gentleman-driver” who used it very little, and only for track drives, it has belonged to Xavier Pompidou's company XP Developpement since 2011. He has been a professional driver since 1992, and had a brilliant and prolific career. He started out as a runner-up in the world karting championships, before twice finishing second in his class (LMP1 and LMP2) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and winning the “Le Mans Series” with Marc Lieb, among other results. XP Développement aims to accompany its customers on track days, and to train drivers to the highest level in its "International Driving & Racing Academy by XP Developpement” school. Xavier Pompidou explained that this car had never been used for racing, but only for test drives and demonstrations. Uniquely, it has been registered for road use in France and has a Carte Grise. Between 2023 and 2024, it was fully restored without counting the hours spent, with complete dismantling of the mechanics, and received a new gearbox which has less than 500 kms.
In excellent condition, maintained and restored by a top-level professional team, this second-hand Lamborghini Gallardo Super Trofeo, has never been used in competition and has a French title. It will enable its new owners to take it to the tracks by road, where it can be driven like private drivers used to do in their Ferrari 250 GTOs!
