This Mercedes 600 is one of 2,190 4-door limousines produced, put on the road on 5 December 1967. It was then registered in the Loire region in January 1975, before passing into the hands of the company La Maison Idéale in the Languedoc Roussillon region in October 1976. It changed hands again in 2006, at an auction organised by Maître Poulain at the Palais des Congrès, having just been repainted and extensively overhauled, including an engine/gearbox overhaul at Mercedes-Benz, and the hydraulics and pneumatics. In 2008, the axle was stripped down to replace the tie rods, shock mounts, bellows and spinnaker seals; the woodwork was also renovated. Its current owner bought it in 2011 and has since done work to keep it in good working order, as evidenced by a file of invoices. In elegant midnight-blue with matching velvet interior, this iconic limousine is in nice condition. The white-sided tires were replaced in 2022 and are hardly worn. The superb dashboard features an optional Becker Grand-Prix radio, and opening the glovebox reveals the 600 designer’s signature Paul Bracq on the door. With a sunroof, this 600 still represents unmatched prestige and elegance. Luxurious, comfortable and powerful, it will have no trouble mingling with today’s traffic while retaining all of its class.
