While the XM was already an authentic French take on the upmarket executive saloon, the most demanding drivers could, in addition, specify the 3.0-litre V6 engine, which in 12-valve guise developed 170bhp, mated to a manual gearbox for performance and with the most luxurious ‘Exclusive’ trim level for maximum comfort. This example is one such model. First registered on 26 September 1996, it was resold by Citroën Rennes in January 2002 with 73,950km on the clock, then kept in the family of the current owner, an employee of the auction house. Since then, the car has been regularly used, and the oil, filters, plugs, starter, drive belts, battery and Michelin rear tyres have been changed. Today, it has covered just under 93,000km from new and is in remarkably well-preserved condition, never repainted except the bumpers; it comes with its Euroccasion warranty booklet, owner’s manual and instruction manual for the original radio. Note that it has a 6-CD changer. The leather interior is in superb original condition, and the boot carpets were fully protected. Thanks to its timing chain, this example is easier to maintain than later models, but belongs to a generation offering greater reliability. It has an unusual specification which guarantees it a bright future as a modern classic.

Please note that the ABS and water temperature warning lights come on randomly. The sensors need to be cleaned, but the car does not overheat and the ABS is working properly.
