The Type CB was notable for its 2410 cc four-cylinder twin-block engine and 4.20 m chassis, which made it possible to fit generously-sized bodies. This was the case for chassis no. 28907, which left the factory in Billancourt in 1911 and was sent to one of the most renowned coachbuilders of the time, Kellner & Sons in Paris, to be fitted with a luxurious ‘coupé chauffeur’ body. The attention to detail paid to its finish is evidence of the substantial means of the customer who ordered it: genuine wickerwork on the entire lower section of the body, custom-made trim and fittings in the rear compartment, including windows that could be lowered, a small wooden console, foldaway occasional seats and a ‘Hygiaphone’ system to talk to the chauffeur, not to mention the initials engraved on the right rear wheel cap. Found by the current owner's father, a connoisseur of veteran cars, this ‘coupé chauffeur’ is in exceptionally well-preserved condition and still has its licence plate with the number assigned to the town of Alès in 1916! When it was discovered, the car was restarted and then displayed in all its glory in the entrance to his company. The engine is not seized, but the car will need to be recommissioned. We were impressed by the condition of this Renault and it is sure to be admired at all the events it takes part in.
