L'œuvre de Ndary Lo témoigne d'une évolution constante dans l'appréhension du corps et de l'espace. Ce sculpteur sénégalais, disparu prématurément, a développé un langage plastique singulier où la figure humaine devient le vecteur d'une méditation sur le mouvement et la verticalité.

Dans ses premières créations, la femme apparaît comme un axe cosmique reliant terre et ciel. Ces "Femme debout", aux formes rigides et hiératiques, portent la charge symbolique d'un lien primordial. Progressivement, l'artiste infléchit sa représentation vers une sensualité croissante. Cette mutation formelle s'accompagne d'un changement de terminologie : naissent alors les Taaru, terme wolof désignant la beauté. Ces figures féminines, libérées de leur fonction purement spirituelle, explorent les nuances infinies du corps en mouvement. La Taaru présentée ici illustre cette maturité artistique. Sa silhouette étirée conjugue élégance formelle et charge émotionnelle, témoignant de la capacité de Ndary Lo à transcender le matériau brut.

L'"Homme qui marche" qui l'accompagne prolonge cette recherche sur la dynamique corporelle. Ses proportions allongées expriment une force qui transcende l'anecdote, révélant une vision du mouvement comme quête perpétuelle et ouverture vers l'avenir.

Héritier de la philosophie de récupération prônée par le collectif "Art Horizon", Ndary Lo transforme les résidus industriels en supports d'expression. Cette alchimie matérielle révèle un créateur soucieux de donner sens au rebut, de métamorphoser le déchet en beauté.

Doublement récompensé aux Biennales de Dakar de 2002 et 2008, Ndary Lo occupe désormais une place centrale dans le panorama artistique africain contemporain. Ces œuvres, récemment présentées lors de l'exposition "Partage des arts" à l'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, condensent l'essence d'une démarche où l'art devient instrument de connaissance, entre pesanteur terrestre et aspiration céleste.

Ndary Lo's work reflects a constant evolution in his understanding of the body and space. This Senegalese sculptor, who died prematurely, developed a unique artistic language in which the human figure becomes the vehicle for a meditation on movement and verticality.

In his early creations, women appear as a cosmic axis connecting earth and sky. These “Standing Women”, with their rigid and hieratic forms, carry the symbolic weight of a primordial link. Gradually, the artist shifted his representation towards increasing sensuality. This formal change was accompanied by a change in terminology: the Taaru, a Wolof term meaning beauty, were born. These female figures, freed from their purely spiritual function, explore the infinite nuances of the body in motion. The Taaru presented here illustrates this artistic maturity. Its elongated silhouette combines formal elegance and emotional charge, demonstrating Ndary Lo's ability to transcend the raw material.

The accompanying “Walking Man” extends this exploration of bodily dynamics. Its elongated proportions express a force that transcends the anecdotal, revealing a vision of movement as a perpetual quest and an opening toward the future.

Heir to the philosophy of recycling advocated by the Art Horizon collective, Ndary Lo transforms industrial waste into a medium for expression. This material alchemy reveals a creator keen to give meaning to scrap, to transform waste into beauty.

Twice awarded at the Dakar Biennials in 2002 and 2008, Ndary Lo now occupies a central place in the contemporary African art scene. His works, recently presented at the “Partage des arts” exhibition in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, encapsulate the essence of an approach in which art becomes an instrument of knowledge, between earthly gravity and celestial aspiration.
