- Car serviced to drive
As confirmed by the Dino historian Matthias Bartz, the Dino 246 GT chassis 3924 left the Maranello factory on the 23rd of May 1972. This E series was ordered in a rare and particularly attractive colour “Blu Chiaro Metallizzato” (one of only 52 examples), associated with a red leather interior. Equipped with optional electric windows and air conditioning, it was shipped to the importer “Chinetti Garthwaite Import Inc.” in the USA who was responsible for selling it on the 11th of August 1973 to Deborah Hurley in Pennsylvania, as evidenced by the original warranty booklet still included with the car. This beautiful Dino was then owned by Bill Penn in Illinois between 1980 and 1981. It was then registered in the Loire - France in 1990 (246 VT 42). Its owner at the time (a member of the Ferrari France Club) had it repainted in its original colour.
He notably took part in the 50th anniversary of Ferrari in Vigeant and we can see the car in action in the Ferrari club publication at the beginning of 1998. With regret, he sold it the following year to its current owner when the mileage was just over 50,000 miles; as of today, the mileage is now slightly over 70,500 miles. Since 1999, the car has been serviced by the Sud Racing garage in Montpellier, as evidenced by the file of invoices. The bodywork is in good used condition and the windows are well aligned; as for the upholstery, it is presented in a desirable patina. It has the original engine (matching numbers) and is in very good working order, which we were able to witness during our road test with the owner. The sound is subtly modified thanks to a stainless steel exhaust and upgraded air filters. In the boot, it includes the original jack in its specific pouch, and inside the car, the original leather folder containing the booklets. This example is particularly desirable thanks to its breathtaking colour combination which very much highlights the superb design of the Dino. It was cherished by its successive owners and deserved to continue its life in caring hands.
