This Citroen Mehari left the factory in 1973 and was registered new on the 3rd July of the same year. It therefore benefited from several welcoming enhancements, such as the folding windshield, improved signage and a reinforced bonnet held in place by elastic straps. The current owner told us that it was the first owner’s son who decided to entrust the car to a former Citroen mechanic for a full restoration following the death of his mother.
A major file of invoices and pictures documents the work done: the car was completely stripped down to be rebuilt from the chassis up. Running gears were overhauled, shock absorbers replaced and the braking system redone; a new bodywork was also fitted and assembled with original accessories. The upholstery was completely restored, including the hood. It is worth mentioning that this is an interesting 4-seater version, as indicated on the registration document. As for the engine, it was also taken apart, with the segmentation and all seals changed. Four new Toyo tyres were fitted on the rims, repainted in the same colour as the bodywork. Finally, the electrical system was also redone. In very good condition aesthetically and mechanically, this Mehari is now ready to drive you to the beach or to explore remote places, whether with family or friends.
