- Beautiful restoration, showing respect for authenticity
- A rare and historic model
- Laid the foundations for the brand's success
- No reserve
The Sport 14 is a genuine success story. From its very first model, Moto Guzzi adopted a horizontal single-cylinder engine, a characteristic that was to become a trademark of the manufacturer founded in 1921 by Carlo Guzzi and Giorgio Parodi. It was fitted to the Sport 14 unveiled in 1929, a highly accomplished motorbike that had seen all its teething problems successfully resolved. Double cradle tubular frame, 500 cc single cylinder with opposed valves, 'ham cutter' flywheel, suspension saddle, full lighting, front and rear brakes, inter-tube tank, and small tank casing were the hallmarks of this well-finished model which, thanks to its build quality and reliability, would be widely distributed for its time.
Given the historical importance of this model, it is only logical that one should be found in the collection of Umberto Panini, a man with a deep interest in the history of transport in Italy. This Sport 14 has been restored to its full authenticity with all the original accessories, from the Guzzi-branded exhaust pipes to the elegant number-plate lighting. The red paintwork with gold trim is typical of the 1930 model and the bike appears to be fully accessorised. Surviving examples of this model are particularly rare, making this Sport 14 a choice piece that enthusiasts of the brand are sure to appreciate.
