When Ducati entered the scooter market in 1952, they didn’t do things by halves: powered by a 175 cc single-cylinder engine connected to a transmission with hydraulic converter and centrifugal clutch, the Cruiser featured luxurious equipment, including an electric starter and a lateral spare wheel protected by the rear bonnet. Its design was entrusted to Ghia and the grille covering the apron channeled fresh air towards the engine bay. This sophistication led to a high price tag and since the market wasn’t ready for such a high-end version, the Cruiser’s production remained below 3,000 units, while the Vespa and Lambretta saw their distribution soar.

This particular Ducati Cruiser was sold new to Mr. Walter Guidetti in Modena, from whom Umberto Panini bought it in the late 1970s! Registered MO 27444, it has had only two owners since new, which is quite exceptional. In original condition and patinated over the years, this scooter is a precious testament to Ducati’s beginnings in the world of two-wheelers and the attempt to launch a refined model. For this reason, it deserves the full attention of enthusiasts.
