This car has the particularity of having been purchased new in 1965 by the Swedish royal family, through the importer Philipson, who sold his first Pullman in Sweden on this occasion. This version was a 7-seater and boasted the same level of luxury seen in the most refined Rolls Royce competitor models. It was ordered by the transport department of the royal family “Hovstallet”. Registered A2 (number reserved for the king), it did not remain in service by King Gustav VI for very long, as he preferred his extended and taller Cadillac Fleetwood. It was then assigned to the wife of the king’s son, Princess Sybille, under registration A6, before being sold in the late 1960s to its current owner. He has kept it ever since, except for a few years when he sold it to a friend but a while later, re-purchased it.

In 2007/2009, this car had a full engine rebuild by Wörle, a company based in Ulm in Germany. The hydraulic system of this 600 is in working order today and the rear suspension keeps its position without sagging as is sometimes the case on these models. Besides its impressive exterior appearance with its black paint and its unblemished chrome, this car is especially worth it for its highly luxurious and extremely spacious interior. Front seats are in leather while the rear seats (behind the driver’s partition) are in deep velvet and in two rows facing each other.

Since the king was a tea enthusiast, the bar remained closed and it is in superb original condition. The rest of the interior like its wood, windows and controls are all in stunning preserved condition. The driver’s side is just as remarkable and the odometer displayed a mileage of 51,333 km at the time of the photo shoot.

Out of a total of 2,677 Mercedes 600 units produced, only 428 were 7-seater Pullman vehicles. In this rare well-preserved condition and with prestigious provenance, this particular example is undoubtedly one of the most desirable on the market.
