This Khamsin was built on 8 March 1980 and delivered on 20 March that year by the S.A.I.A.S. dealership at Lugano in Switzerland to Félix Faux. It was finished in Argento Italver (6336031) with a Senape Connolly leather interior (VM 3100). Maserati’s archives indicate that it served as a show car at the 1980 Geneva Motor Show. Our client acquired the car in 2012 and it was then metallic brown, with its original interior, the combination it still has today. It is one of the cars which he cherishes most in his collection. In attractive cosmetic condition, it is extremely pleasant to drive, thanks in particular to its Citroën ‘DIRAVI’ steering, braking and hydropneumatic suspension.
The Khamsin is certainly one of the most interesting GTs of its period, with a futuristic design by Gandini for Bertone which carried over and modernised the layout and engine of the Ghibli. Capable of reaching 270kph, no mean feat in 1974, this super-GT will appeal to discerning collectors who are strongly attracted to original designs.
