The A1-4 was the 10CV model in Lorraine-Dietrich’s range at the time and had a four-cylinder engine with the same bore and stroke as the B3-6. Chassis no. 150467 evidently spent its life in southern France as it was fitted with a saloon body by Viguier Frères et Cie in Montpellier. It was built to a very high standard, no doubt at considerable cost. With its twin spare wheels, finely-crafted bodywork (down to the fake landau bars on the rear quarter panels), not to mention its luxurious rear compartment, with a small unit mounted against the front bench incorporating removable folding seats and storage compartments finished in fine wood veneer, it is clear that its first owner was well-off. An old registration document from 1936 records that it belonged to a mechanic from Millau, who sold it in 1965 to a resident of Montpellier. Its current owner bought the car from a collector in Sète in 2022. Largely complete, this lavish and rare saloon deserves a high-quality restoration which will bring out the care taken over its construction.
