- The 384th car built!
- Certificate of authenticity
- Original colour, superb condition!
- No reserve
First produced in 1964 by Bruce F. Meyers, who lived at Newport Beach in California, the Meyers Manx buggy was intended to drive to the beach and cross the dunes to go surfing. The first few examples, built for his friends, proved a real success, later heightened by the record it set in the Baja 1000 race in Mexico in 1967, and stars such as Elvis or Steve McQueen became devoted followers. Like all good ideas, the Manx was later much copied and today, genuine examples are highly sought after. The example presented here is one such model, as its manufacturer’s plate and certificate of authenticity issued by Bruce Meyers confirm. This certificate confirms that it was produced in February 1968 and was the 384th example built, i.e. at the very start of production, making it one of the earliest examples recorded. It also confirms that its original colour was ‘Royal Blue’. Found in Maine by its current owner after a thorough search, then imported into France in 2007, this magnificent example has since been restored to its original specification. In superb condition and excellent running order, this genuine Manx from the start of production, the closest to its designer’s original idea, is as much a rare collector's item for a connoisseur as a fun car that will arouse curiosity and affection.
